Kenice Gilliam Core Program Director


Kenice has worked in the field of chronic pain for over 15 years and in the Monterey area medical community for over 20 years. Her time helping patients with chronic pain has given her a deep compassion for those suffering with ongoing pain. Kenice realized the need for a comprehensive rehab program and this has led her to create The Core Program, Inc. Kenice is the heart of our program. She makes sure the needs and concerns of each of our patients are fully understood.

Howard Rosen, MD Pain management Specialist


Dr. Rosen is Board Certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. He completed medical school at New York Medical College. He then went on to finish his internship at USC-LAC in internal Medicine and his residency at UCLA in Anesthesiology.

Dr. Rosen is extremely passionate about his work with patients suffering from pain. He practices a combination of holistic and modern medicine. He steers his patients away from the use of narcotics. He strives to not only help patients control and manage their pain but more importantly to restore their lives. He helped create The Core Program, Inc. to achieve this goal. He understands that chronic pain not only causes deep suffering but affects all areas of life such as: family, social, financial and occupational aspects of a persons life and endeavors to treat patients with dignity, integrity, compassion and respect.

Helene Lubben, PT Core Physical Therapist


Helene is a graduate of Washington University School of Medicine, Program in Physical Therapy in St. Louis, MO. She has been a physical therapist for over 30 years and is a movement-retraining specialist. She has taught core-strengthening classes for over 10 years. She is passionate about helping patients suffering with chronic pain regain their health and fitness. She focuses on treating each and every patient as an individual and formulating a treatment plan that focuses on their specific injury and their overall health. She encourages and creates change with each exercise session.

Benjamin Corsbie, Psy D. Licensed Clinical Psychologist


Ben Corsbie, Psy.D. is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the management of chronic pain and illness. He attained a doctoral degree at The California School of Professional Psychology in San Francisco with emphases in Health Psychology. Dr. Corsbie completed his pre-doctoral internship with the University of California San Francisco, Psychosocial Medicine Program where he trained at San Francisco General Hospital and Maxine Hall Health Center. He is experienced working as part of interdisciplinary medical teams including pain management clinic and primary care settings. At CORE Functional Restoration Program Dr. Corsbie focuses on helping individuals cope with and manage chronic pain and the suffering resulting from it more independently and effectively.

Anthony Payan, D.C. Chiropractor/Athletic Trainer


Dr. Anthony Payan has been practicing chiropractic medicine for more than 25 years. He is highly skilled in soft tissue management and has a vast experience in treating patients with chronic pain injuries. His pain specific techniques address the scar tissue and myofascial tightness that affect normal movement. He creates change with his positive and powerful approach.

Alex Suarez Physical Therapy Aide/ Bilingual Assistant


Alex has been a physical therapy aide for over 4 years and loves helping people. His personal motto is, “If I can do it, you can do it!” Alex has suffered 2 major injuries and has learned to manage his chronic pain through exercise and nutrition. He has lost over 100 pounds in the last two years and regained his own health. He is a wonderful support to our patients with chronic pain. He is an excellent translator for our Spanish speaking clients.

Javier Martinez Physical Therapy Aide/ Bilingual Assistant


Javier has been our physical therapy aide for over a year and helps in all aspects of our rehabilitation program. He treats others with kindness and dignity and is always aiding and guiding our patients in their rehabilitation and successes.
